Why is this… Well because the problem gets bigger when you are relaxed or in repose. Sometimes this problem can appear when you are driving… but thats more rare even.
There is a hereditary link to this condition. If your father or mother or grandmother have it.. well you have 50% chances to have it too.
Possible Causes
Hereditary is an usual cause But there are other too:
Iron Deficiency Anemia
Diabetes Mellitus
Pregnancy
Arthritis
Vitamin Deficiency (B12, B1, B2)
Nerves Lesion
Varicose Veins
Uremic
DRUGS: Lithium, Alcohol, Nicotine, B – Blockers, Antidepressants, Antihistamines, Caffeine
Treatment
This is the best part. This condition can be treated and can be take it to a healthy state. Here are some recommendations:
Take less alcohol, nicotine and Coffee
Try to stop or avoid or take less medications listed as possible causes
Vitamins (Any type.. If have iron Better)
Try to do some exercise before go to bed: Walk, Bends, Any kind of small exercise
If you have Varicose Veins use a pillow in your legs or use elastic stockings at bed
If nothing gets to get the problem better try this medications (Of course with a Doctor´s Advice! ): Pergolide 0.5mg VO 1hour before bedtime. Clonidine 0.1-0.3mg VO 30 minutes before bedtime. Gabapentine 300mg VO at bedtime. Levodopa 100mg Vo 1 hour before bedtime (This last one could need some recipe from your doctor)
